The national tour of the Tony Award-winning revival of Hair celebrated its Los Angeles opening at the Pantages Theatre on Thursday, January 6.
Guests included John Savage, who starred as Claude in the film version of the musical, as well as a number of alumni from previous productions of Hair, including original Broadway cast member Ben Vereen.
Additional attendees included Jason Alexander, Alison Arngrim, Billy Burke, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Greg Grunberg, Melora Hardin, Dawnn Lewis, Melissa Manchester, Charlotte Rae, Richard Schiff, Rex Smith, Josh Sussman, Tracie Thoms, and Joanne Worley.
With a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot, the show depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the 60's and 70's that changed America forever. Diane Paulus directs, with choreography by Karole Armitage.
The cast is led by Steel Burkhardt as Berger, Paris Remillard as Claude, and Caren Lyn Tackett as Sheila. Additional principal cast members will include Matt DeAngelis as Woof, Phyre Hawkins as Dionne, Kaitlin Kiyan as Crissy, Darius Nichols as Hud, and Kacie Sheik as Jeanie.
