Stage and screen star Rosemarie DeWitt will join Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal in the Film Department's Earthbound, according to a report in Variety. Nicole Kassell will direct.

The film, featuring a screenplay by Gren Wells, is about a terminally ill woman who falls for her doctor. It is scheduled to go into production later this month in Louisiana.

DeWitt, who will portray the best friend and confidante of Hudson's character, will star in MCC's upcoming production of Beth Henley's Family Week in the spring, with other Off-Broadway credits including Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and Small Tragedy. She is best known for her roles in the film Rachel Getting Married, the FOX series Standoff, and Showtime's The United States of Tara.
