Charlie and his friend Froggy leave their native England for a getaway to a remote fishing lodge in backwoods Georgia. When Froggy has to leave Charlie with hostess Betty and her entourage of bizarre friends, he saves his extremely shy friend from conversation by telling everyone that Charlie doesn't speak English. With Charlie communicating only in gibberish, people indiscriminately spill their secrets in his presence. A series of silly situations and hilarious interchanges comes to a climax when Charlie and the motley crew of lodge guests must confront the mean-spirited Owen Musser.
