The second in the Fabulous Females of Folk program, Lucy Kaplansky has a beautiful flair for harmony. She was the New York City-folk community's favorite singing partner, and has performed with Shawn Colvin (providing harmony on the Grammy-winning Steady On), Nanci Griffith (Lone Star State of Mind, Little Love Affairs), and John Gorka. She teamed with Dar Williams and Richard Shindell to jointly release the album Cry, Cry, Cry (which The New Yorker dubbed "a collection of lovely harmonizing and pure emotion"). Lucy's latest offering, The Red Thread, is a beautiful production showcasing harmony vocals by Jonatha Brooke, Richard Shindell, Eliza Gilkyson and John Gorka. The resulting sound is an artful fusion of rock, folk, country and pop that compliments Kaplansky's velvet-lined low-register vocals in perfect measure. Lucy has a knack for leading listeners straight to the heart of a song - and will leave you wanting more.
