WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark on Main Street presents the final Fabulous Females of Folk Concert featuring Catie Curtis & The Chapin Sisters. The concert is hosted by WFUV's John Platt and is sponsored by WFUV, Greenberg Traurig, Jennifer & David Rimmer and Frank Ullman.

In 1996, The New Yorker deemed Catie Curtis a "folk-rock goddess." A pop-leaning writer/singer in folk clothing, her vivid songwriting combines insightful lyrics with soulful strumming and energy. The Boston Herald described Curtis whose career was launched in 1996 as "One of the melodic delights of our age." She has toured with Lilith Fair, Dar Williams and Mary Chapin Carpenter to name a few of her illustrious contemporaries.

Singing professionally since the summer of 2004, The Chapin sisters, Abigail and Lily, daughters of folk singer Tom Chapin and half–sister, Jessica, the daughter of director Wes Craven who now live in Los Angeles are known for blending traditional folk harmonies with indie rock moodiness as they live up to their musical family’s legend. The LA Weekly reports that "the Chapins perform a hybrid of kitschy traditional country and contemporary urban folk, writing songs that smartly take their cues from the Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon and Carter Family catalogs."
