Annie Lyricist Martin Charnin to Speak at White Plains Performing Arts Center

The Tony-winning artist joins the theater’s ”Creating Broadway Series”.

Tony Award-winning lyricist Martin Charnin will visit the White Plains Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 10, at 7pm as part of the Creating Broadway Series.

During his lecture-style presentation, Charnin will share stories from his life in the theater and give advice for rounding out songs in an actor’s repertoire for audition or performance. Six to eight of the class' ticket buyers will be selected, by audition, to join Charnin onstage.

Best known for his work as the conceiver, director, and lyricist of the Tony Award winning musical Annie and its sequel Annie Warbucks, Charnin has been the director, lyricist, composer, librettist, producer or a combination for over 85 theatrical productions. Throughout his extensive career, he has received four Tony nominations, one Tony Award, seven Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards, three Gold records, two Platinum records, six Drama Desk Awards, and a Peabody Award for Broadcasting.

The Creating Broadway Series from the WPPAC Conservatory Theatre features concerts, master classes, lectures, and workshops with Broadway artists showcasing the talents that got them to the Great White Way.
