Mike Backes, Stanley Bahorek, Lakisha Anne Bowen, et al. Set for Engeman’s Rent

Full cast and creative team have been announced for The John W. Engeman Theater’s production of the musical Rent, which will run September 10-November 1. It will be directed by Alan Souza, with choreography by Karl Christian and music direction by Mike Pettry.

Set in New York City’s gritty East Village, Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical is an imaginative retelling of the classic Puccini opera, La Boheme.

The cast will feature Mike Backes (Roger), Stanley Bahorek (Mark), Lakisha Anne Bowen (Mimi), Miles Johnson (Benny), Alan Mingo Jr. (Collins), Betsy Morgan (Maureen), Reymundo Santiago (Angel), Britt West (Joanne), Kyle Taylor Breeding (ensemble), Cara Buschi (ensemble), Tom Hennes (ensemble), Jonathan Kitt (ensemble), Peter Kriss (ensemble), Tara Novi (ensemble), Nicholas Park (ensemble), La’Nette Wallace (ensemble), and Brooke Wilson (ensemble). The creative team includes Todd Ivins (sets), Johnny Davenport (costumes), Cory Pattak (lighting), and Richard Dionne (sound).

The theater previously announced that it has set a goal to raise $50,000 for AIDS care on Long Island, with a portion of every ticket sold to benefit The Long Island Association for AIDS Care, Inc. (LIAAC), a full-scale community-based HIV/AIDS organization providing direct client services, prevention education and HIV/Hepatitis C testing to all Long Island residents; and Thursday’s Child, which provides Long Islanders Living with HIV/AIDS with programs including independent, supportive housing, emergency financial assistance, and a Safety Net Project which supports families in need.
