Bay Street Theater has announced a two-night benefit reading of Shakespeare's play The Tempest, starring Tony winner John Glover (Love! Valour! Compassion!), to kick off its new Bay Street Shakespeare Initiative. Performances will run on August 16 and 17. After a VIP benefit for members of its Join the Company campaign on August 16, the August 17 performance will be free and open to the public at an outdoor venue to be announced.

Set on a remote island, The Tempest tells the story of Prospero, the usurped Duke of Milan, who employs magic and wit to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place.

Bay Street's Shakespeare Initiative is a new program designed to spotlight the work of Shakespeare and bolster Bay Street Theater as a center for the Bard's work on the East End.

Bay Street Theater is a year-round, not-for-profit professional theater and community cultural center that endeavors to innovate, educate, and entertain a diverse community through the practice of the performing arts.
