PHOTO FLASH: Bebe Neuwirth, Paul Taylor Dance Company, et al. at Fire Island Dance Festival

The Fire Island Dance Festival 17, an outdoor celebration of dance, was held at Fire Island Pines on July 15-17. The event raised $340,445 for Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.


The festival was hosted by Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth and featured performances by Brian Brooks Moving Company, Brandon Bryant, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Sokvannara “Sy” Sar, and New York City Ballet principal ballerina Wendy Whelan and soloist Craig Hall.


In honor of Neuwirth’s dedication and devotion to the health and well-being of her fellow dancers and performing artists, Broadway Cares and Dancers Responding to AIDS presented her with a special donation of $25,000 for The Dancers’ Resource on stage at the 7pm performance on July 16.
