About
The Peacock Theatre, formerly the Royalty Theatre, was named in honor of benefactor Michael Peacock. The site was originally home to the London Opera House, built in 1911 with seating for 2600. It was bought by Oswald Stoll in 1916 and renamed the Stoll Theatre. Demolished in 1957, it reopened as the Royalty in 1960. It now seats 1037.
