About This Venue
The Old Vic has undergone several name changes, closings and openings since its original opening on May 11, 1818. The Peter Hall Company maintain a true Repertory Theatre here: five classics directed by Peter Hall and five new plays directed by Dominic Dromgoole. Ed and David Mirvish won the 1998 Olivier Special Award for the restoration of the theatre. The Old Vic Theatre has a seating capacity of 1037.
