Synopsis
Let's Face the Music & Dance plays at the Irving Berlin - a man whose timeless words and music make up the backbone of the great American songbook - produced a vast catalog of ballads, dance numbers, novelty tunes and love songs, in a career which spanned seven decades.
Equally at home on Broadway or in Hollywood, he wrote scores for classic musicals, including the phenomenally successful Annie Get Your Gun, and movies such as Top Hat, There's No Business Like Show Business and White Christmas.
In this newly compiled musical celebration - combining original versions with exciting new arrangements - three singers tell stories about love, life and laughter, through songs drawn from this prolific composer's extraordinary repertoire.
Come and enjoy such enduring hits as Cheek to Cheek, Alexander's Ragtime Band, White Christmas and, of course, Let's Face the Music and Dance, in this perfect musical evening for the festive season.
The cast includes Helen Anker (Parade at the Donmar Warehouse), Edward Baker-Duly (Gone with the Wind) and Melanie La Barrie (Mary Poppins and Les Miserables). Director Simon Green last appeared at the Playhouse in 2005 in Relative Values.
