Stage Door Records to Release Out of the Blue and Beautiful and Damned

Stage Door Records will release the original cast recording of Shunn-Ichi Tokura and Paul Sand’s musical Out Of The Blue, on October 18.

Set in Japan just after World War II, the show focuses on a married couple who are trying to cope with the aftermath of the bombing of Nagasaki. The company features Meredith Braun, Greg Ellis, James Graeme, Michael McCarthy and Simon Burke.

In related news, the label has also announced that it will be releasing a concept recording of Les Reed and Roger Cook’s musicalBeautiful and Damned on September 27. Based on the lives of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald, the piece was originally produced at Yvonne Arnaud Theatre before transferring to the Lyric in London. The disc features the songwriters, along with Lorna Bannon, Carole Cook, and Katie Humble, singing the jazz-age score. It also includes three bonus tracks of live recordings from the London production, featuring Helen Anker and Warren Praed.
