Kevin Anderson and Reg E. Cathey to Headline West End's Shawshank Redemption

Kevin Anderson and Reg. E. Cathey will star in the stage adaptation of Stephen King's The Shawshank Redemption, which willl begin performances on September 4 at West End's Wyndham's Theatre, where it's initially booking until February 14.

The stage version is adapted by Owen O'Neill and Dave Johns, directed by Peter Sheridan, and designed by Ferdia Murphy, with lighting by Kevin Treacy and sound by Denis Clohessy

The play tells the story of Andy Dufresne and Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding, two prison inmates who develop a lifelong friendship after the former, a banker, is wrongly incarcerated for the murder of his wife.

Anderson is a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company; his many stage credits include Brooklyn The Musical, Death of a Salesman, Orpheus Descending, Sunset Boulevard, and Orphans.

Cathey is best known for his role as Norman Wilson on TV's The Wire. His many New York stage credits include Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, Blue Door, and The Green Bird.
