The London production of The Producers will close at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on January 6, 2007.

The show, which opened on November 9, 2004 and went on to win the Olivier, the Evening Standard, and the Critics' Circle awards for Best Musical, reportedly recouped its £5,500,000 investment in record-breaking time. It currently stars Cory English as Max Bialystock and Reece Shearsmith as Leo Bloom, with Rachel McDowall as Ulla, Nicolas Colicos as Franz Liebkind, Don Gallagher as Roger De Bris, and Stephen Matthews as Carmen Ghia.

The Broadway production of The Producers won an unprecedented 12 Tony Awards, as well as a record 11 Drama Desk Awards, eight Outer Critics Circle Awards, the 2001 New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, and the 2001 Drama League Award for Best Musical. A Las Vegas production is planned for fall 2006.

Based on the 1968 Mel Brooks film of the same title, The Producers has a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, music and lyrics by Brooks, and is directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman. Scenic design is by Robin Wagner, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski, sound by Steve C. Kennedy, and orchestrations by Doug Besterman. The West End production was staged by the entire Broadway creative team. For more information, visit www.theproducersmusical.co.uk.
