West End performers including Sharon D. Clarke (We Will Rock You), Kerry Ellis (Wicked), Oliver Tompsett (Wicked), and Zubin Varla (Jesus Christ Superstar) will make a studio recording of the new sci-fi musical Only You Can Save Mankind, based on the novel by Sir Terry Pratchett. The first recording session will be held at Air Edel Studios on March 30.

Featuring music by Leighton James House with lyrics by Shaun McKenna, the show centers on Johnny, who plays a video game only to have the alien fleet he’s about to destroy surrender, leading him to question if it really is only a game.

The recording will also feature cellist Zoe Martlew. Orchestrations will be by Tom Deering and the Mix Engineer is Rupert Coulson. A full production of the musical is planned for a 2010 UK tour, followed by a West End transfer.

10% of the profits will go to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust. Songs will be available to download individually or as an entire album at www.pjsmprints.com.
