Nominees for the 2014 WhatsOnStage Awards were announced today in advance of the London company’s launch party for their awards festivities. As previously reported, the party will take place at London’s Café de Paris where the full list of nominees will be announced among additional performances by Broadway and West End stars including Eden Espinosa and Tony nominee Jenna Russell.

The WhatsOnStage Awards offer West End audiences a chance to vote for their favorite performers each theater season. Several American favorites topped this year’s list of nominees, including Harry Potter costars Daniel Radcliffe — nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance in Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan — and Rupert Grint, nominated for Newcomer of the Year for his stage debut in the current West End revival of Jez Butterworth’s Mojo.

Also making the short list are husband-and-wife pair James McAvoy and Anne-Marie Duff, McAvoy up for Best Actor for his performance in Macbeth and Duff nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Eugene O’Neill’s Strange Interlude. Two-time Tony nominee Gavin Creel (Hair) made a splash overseas as well, earning a nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in The Book of Mormon while Oscar winner Helen Mirren received a Best Actress in a Play nod for her Oliver Award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience.

Final voting for the 2014 awards will continue online at awards.whatsonstage.com through January 31. Winners will be announced at the WhatsOnStage Awards ceremony on February 23 at the West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre.
