Improbable’s The Devil and Mister Punch to Play Barbican Pit

Improbable’s The Devil and Mister Punch will receive its UK premiere at the Barbican Pit, according to WhatsOnStage.com. Created and directed by company co-founder Julian Crouch, the work will play February 2-25, 2012 with an opening on February 7.

The piece is a variation on Punch and Judy, as presented by a pair of broken vaudevillians. It was commissioned by the Barbican, Walker Art Centre of Minneapolis and Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, and first seen in the United States earlier this year.

The cast will include Nick Haverson, Rob Thirtle, Jessica Scott, Saskia Lane, John Foti and Seamus Maynard.

The work is devised by the company with text by Nick Haverson, Julian Crouch and Rob Thirtle, set design by Julian Crouch with Rob Thirtle and Mike Kerns, puppets by Julian Crouch with Jessica Scott, costume by Sarah Laux with Julian Crouch, music and lyrics by John Foti, Saskia Lane, Julian Crouch and the company, lighting design by Marcus Doshi and sound design by Darron West.
