Kenneth Branagh, Ralph Fiennes to Be Honored by Moët British Independent Film Awards

Stage and screen stars Kenneth Branagh and Ralph Fiennes will be honored by The Moët British Independent Film Awards at a ceremony to be held at Old Billingsgate on Sunday, December 4.

Branagh will receive the Variety Award which honors an actor, director, writer or producer who has helped to focus the international spotlight on the UK. Branagh’s many stage credits include Another Country, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, Look Back in Anger, Richard III, Edmond, and Ivanov. His film work includes adaptations of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love’s Labours Lost, and Othello, and he is currently playing Sir Laurence Olivier in Simon Curtis’ film, My Week With Marilyn.

Fiennes will receive The Richard Harris Award, which recognizes outstanding contribution to British film by an actor. The actor won a Tony Award for his performance in Hamlet and received a Tony nomination for his work in The Faith Healer. In addition, he was nominated for Academy Awards for his roles in The English Patient and Schindler’s List. Among his numerous other film credits are turns as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies, as well as his soon-to-be-released film version of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus and the in-production new James Bond movie, directed by Sam Mendes.
