The Barbican in London has announced its full slate of productions for its 2012 season, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com.

As previously reported, highlights include Cate Blanchett starring in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Martin Crimp’s new adaptation of Botho Strauss’ Gross und Klein (April 13-29); Juliette Binoche in August Strindberg’s Mademoiselle Julie (September 20-29), directed by Frédéric Fisbach; the U.K. premiere of Robert Wilson and Philip Glass’ Einstein on the Beach (May 4-13); and a celebration of choreographer Pina Bausch’s work (June 6 – July 9).

The previously announced new work from Simon McBurney and Complicite will be an English language adaptation of Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita (March 14-April 7), starring Paul Rhys and Sinead Matthews.

The Barbican will be participating in the RSC’s World Shakespeare Festival, with productions of Nobel Prize-winning novelist Toni Morrison and Malian singer/songwriter Rokia Traoré’s Desdemona (July 19 and 20) and a Japanese language production of Cymbeline (May 29-June 2), directed by Yukio Ninagawa.

Among the other newly announced shows are Cheek by Jowl’s production of John Ford’s Tis Pity She’s a Whore (February 16-March 10), staged in the Silk Street Theatre; and the previously announced new work from Kate Bond and Morgan Lloyd will instead be a return of their popular experiential theatre show, You Me Bum Bum Train, held in a building in Canary Wharf.
