Simon Russell Beale, Fiona Shaw, et al. Set for London’s National Theatre in 2010

The National Theatre in London has announced updated casting for its 2010 season, according to Whatsonstage.com.

The cast of London Assurance (Olivier Theatre, beginning March 2) will star Simon Russell Beale, Richard Briers, Paul Ready, Fiona Shaw, and Michelle Terry. The production will be designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting by Neil Austin, music by Rachel Portman and sound by John Leonard.

Pip Carter, Paul Higgins and Justine Mitchell will star in Bulgakov’s The White Guard in a new version by Andrew Upton. Howard Davies will direct the production in the Lyttelton, beginning March 12. The production will be designed by Bunny Christie, with lighting by Neil Austin and sound by Christopher Shutt.

Lucy May Barker, Paul Bazely, Amelia Bullmore, Tanya Franks, Gawn Grainger, Thomas Jordan, Michela Meazza, Judy Parfitt, Paul Ritter, and Marcia Warren will be featured in the cast of Tamsin Oglesby’s Really Old, Like Forty Five (Cottesloe, beginning January 27), to be directed by Anna Mackmin. Also at the Cottesloe will be Fuel’s production of The 14th Tale, written and performed by Inua Ellams (February 9-March 13).

In addition, the next two dates for the NT Live pilot season will be Mark Ravenhill’s adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Nation to be broadcast live to cinemas on January 30, followed by Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art, starring Alex Jennings, Richard Griffiths and Frances de la Tour, to be broadcast April 22.
