Kerry Ellis to Play Nancy in West End Revival of Oliver!

Kerry Ellis will succeed Jodie Prenger as Nancy in the West End revival of Oliver! playing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on March 29.

Ellis has played Elphaba in Wicked in both the West End production and on Broadway. Her other musical credits include Queen’s We Will Rock You, in which she originated the role of Meatloaf, and Chess in Concert

The musical, with book music and lyrics by Lionel Bart, features direction by Rupert Goold, based on Sam Mendes’ 1994 staging. Matthew Bourne has co-directed and choreographed the production. The creative team includes Anthony Ward (scenic design), Paule Constable (lighting desing), and Paul Groothuis (sound design).

The current company also features Steven Hartley (Bill Sikes), Julian Glover (Mr. Brownlow), Julius D’Silva (Mr. Bumble), Wendy Ferguson (Widow Corney), Julian Bleach (Mr. Sowerberry/Dr. Grimwig), Louise Gold (Mrs. Sowerberry/Mrs. Bedwin) and Tamsin Carroll (alternate Nancy), as well as teams of alternating child stars. Griff Rhys Jones takes over Omid Djalili as Fagin beginning on December 14.
