Van Outen and Mead first met in 2007 on the BBC talent show Any Dream Will Do, which was looking for the next West-End star for a revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Mead went on to win the competition and performed in the show in the West End. In January, he will star in a revival of Oscar Wilde's Lord Arthur Savile's Crime, which will be embarking on a UK tour.
In addition to her work on television, Van Outen has appeared in such musicals as Chicago, Tell Me on a Sunday, and Rent: Remixed. Over the summer she performed her solo show Blondes at the Edinburgh Festival.
