Million Dollar Quartet to End West End Run in January

Million Dollar Quartet will play its final performance at the West End’s Noël Coward Theatre on January 14, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. Eric Shaeffer has directed the production which opened on February 28, 2011.

The musical, co-authored by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott, is inspired by the December 4, 1956 recording session that brought together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. The company currently features Oliver Seymour-Marsh (Perkins), Bill Ward (Sam Phillips), Ben Goddard (Lewis), Derek Hagen (Cash), Francesca Jackson (Dyanne) and Michael Malarkey (Presley).

The show features a treasure trove of the greatest rock, rockabilly, gospel, R&B and country standards of the 1950s, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” and “Whole Lotta’ Shakin’ Goin’ On.”
