Derek Jacobi, Michael Sheen, et al. Receive Theatre Awards UK

The Theatrical Management Association (TMA) has announced the winners for its Theatre Awards UK 2011, which honor creative excellence and the outstanding work seen on stages throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, according to Whatsonstage.com.

Winning productions included King Lear, Love, Love, Love, Matilda the Musical, Richard III, and The Comedy of Errors.

Actng winners included Derek Jacobi for King Lear, Bertie Carvel for Matilda the Musical, and Claire Price for The Pride.

Michael Sheen and Bill Mitchell won for their direction of The Passion, and Sir Peter Hall, the former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre, was also honored with the Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Theatre.
