Matthew Bourne’s revised staging of Prokofiev’s Cinderella will embark on a U.K. tour with an engagement in Plymouth November 15-20, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. As previously reported, the production will play an extended run at London’s Sadlers’ Wells Theatre, running November 30 – January 23.

Other tour stops will include a second pre-London engagement in Salford (November 23-27) as well as ones in Nottingham, Stoke on Trent, Newcastle, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Woking, Bradford, Norwich, Wimbledon, Liverpool, Oxford, Bristol and Sheffield during the first half of 2011.

Bourne’s new staging has been created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Blitz and is set in London during the Second World War, centering on the fleeting wartime romance between Cinders and her dashing young RAF pilot. Kerry Biggin stars in the title role Cinderella opposite Sam Archer as Harry, “The Pilot.”

The creative team will include Lez Brotherston (production design), Neil Austin (lighting design) and Paul Groothuis (surround sound design).

Bourne won Tony Awards for both direction and choreography of his Swan Lake, which is currently being revived at New York City Center. (Click here for details.) His additional credits include co-directing and choreographing the Broadway musical Mary Poppins, and his dance-theater works, Play Without Words and Edward Scissorhands.
