Gleemania to Launch U.K. Tour in December

Gleemania, a new show inspired by the FOX television series Glee, will launch a U.K. tour at the Hammersmith HMV Apollo on December 17, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. A subsequent engagement for the five-month tour will be the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on December 19. A full tour schedule with date and venues will be announced shortly.

Directed by David Wood and featuring musical direction by Simon Henderson, the show will showcase music from the past as well as mash-ups inspired by the hit FOX series.

The company will be comprised of talents seen on British reality series, including Rikki Loney, Shaun Smith, Anthony Kavanagh, Aaron Bayley, Andy Scott Lee, David and Trevor Francis, Nikitta Angus, Emma Beard, Stacey McClean, and Kimberley Southwick.

In related news, Gleekfest, featuring the group ToneAcity, will be offered at London’s Arts Theatre on October 10. The event will feature a mix of well-known songs, forgotten gems and mash-ups. Spencer James will direct the performance, which will have musical direction by Katharine Woolley. The Arts Theatre will also offer a showcase a variety of singing groups, including DDGlee, Starling Arts and City Academy Choir, at Show Choir Sunday on October 17.
