British singer and theater star Stephen Gately died while vacationing in Majorca, according to published reports. The cause of his death was acute pulmonary edema, an accumulation of fluid on the lungs.

Gately was a member of the top-selling pop group Boyzone. He also appeared in the West End in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, as well as the ITV show Dancing on Ice.
