Two time Olivier Award winner Henry Goodman will star as French impressionist Edward Degas in the world premiere of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s The Line, to run November 23 – December 12 at the Arcola Theatre. Matthew Lloyd will direct the production.

Wertenbaker’s play focuses on what happens when a brash young woman forces her way into the presence of Degas and the two begin to argue over the future of art, all the while watched by Degas’ housekeeper. The company also features Sarah Smart and Selina Cadell. The production will be designed by William Dudley.

Goodman won Olivier Awards for performances in The Merchant of Venice and Assassins. Among his recent credits are Fiddler on the Roof, The Exonerated, The Birthday Party, The Hypochondriac and Duet for One.
