Henry Goodman and Juliet Stevenson to Star in Almeida's Duet for One

Henry Goodman and Juliet Stevenson will star in Almeida Theatre's revival of Tom Kempinski's Duet for One, to run January 22-March 14, with an opening set for January 29. Matthew Lloyd will direct.

The two-hander concerns celebrated concert pianist Stephanie Abrahams (Stevenson) who consults psychiatrist Dr. Feldmann (Goodman) after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The production will feature set and costume design by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Jason Taylor, and sound by John Leonard.

Goodman has numerous West End and Broadway credits, including Chicago, Hysteria, The Producers, Angels in America, and Art. He was last seen at the Almeida as Argan in The Hypochondriac. Stevenson won the Laurence Olivier for her work in Death and the Maiden, and additional theater credits include Burn This, The Seagull, Alice Trilogy, The Country, We Happy Few and Private Lives. She won the Evening Standard Film Award for Best Actress for Truly, Madly, Deeply.

The Almeida's 2009 season will also include Neil LaBute's In a Dark Dark House (November 28, 2008-January 17, 2009), directed by Michael Attenborough and featuring Steven Mackintosh, David Morrissey, and Kira Sternbach; Jez Butterworth's Parlour Song (March 19-May 9), directed by Ian Rickson; Andrew Bovell's When the Rain Stops Falling (May 14-July 4), directed by Michael Attenborough; the world premiere of Christopher Hampton's new version of Judgment Day (September 4-October 17), by Odon Von Horvath, directed by James MacDonald; the world premiere of Samuel Adamson's A Quiet Island (October 22-December 5), directed by Indhu Rubasingham; and Patrick Hamilton's Rope (December 10-January 30), directed by Roger Michell. In addition, Almeida will present Shakespeare's Measure for Measure in 2010, directed by Attenborough.
