Michael Ball, Maria Friedman, Haydn Gwynne, Jenna Russell Set for Mercury Musical Developments Gala

Michael Ball, David Bedella, Maria Friedman, Haydn Gwynne, Jenna Russell, Sally Anne Triplett, and Michael Xavier are among the London stars who will take part in Mercury Musical Developments’ 20th Anniversary Gala, to take place Sunday, October 14 at the Novello Theatre. The evening will be directed by Simon Greiff.

Additional artists will include Madalena Alberto, Lucy May Barker, James Bourne, Janie Dee, Hayley Gallivan, Danielle Hope, Alison Jiear, Paul Kaye, Claire Moore, Tam Mutu, and Stuart Matthew Price. Also on hand will be musical theater writers Willy Russell, Charles Hart, and Stiles & Drewe.

The gala will feature performances of songs written by MMD members including Michael Feinstein, Douglas Hodge, Tim Minchin, Grant Olding, Sandy Wilson, and more. Ball will be on hand to present the Sidney Brown Memorial Award for musical theater writing.

Mercury Musical Developments was founded in 1992 when a group of artists studied at Oxford with Stephen Sondheim when he was The Cameron Mackintosh Professor of Contemporary Theatre.
