Daniel Crossley, Miriam Margolyes, Jemima Rooper, et al. Set for U.K. Me and My Girl

Daniel Crossley, Miriam Margolyes and Jemima Rooper are set to appear in Me and My Girl, to run December 9 – January 29 at the Sheffield-Crucible, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. Anna Mackmin will direct the production, which have choreography by Stephen Mear and be designed by Peter McKintosh.

The show has music by Noel Gay and lyrics by L Arthur Rose and Douglas Furber who also jointly wrote the book, which was revised in 1984 by actor-writer-comedian Stephen Fry with contributions by Mike Ockrent.

Set in England in 1936, the musical centers on cockney charmer Bill Snibson (Crossley), who discovers he’s heir to a fortune, and has to choose between a life of luxury or one with his girl Sally (Rooper).

Rooper is currently appearing in the West End revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, Her other recent stage credits include The Great Game, The Power of Yes, and Her Naked Skin. Crossley was recently seen in the Open Air Theatre revival of Hello, Dolly! and in the West End production of Mary Poppins.

Margolyes has been seen has been seen as Madame Morrible in Wicked on Broadway and in the West End. She was seen last year in London in Samuel Beckett’s Endgame. In addition, she won a BAFTA Award for her work in Martin Scorsese’s film version of The Age of Innocence
