Jimmy Akingbola, Aml Ameen, Jaye Griffiths, et. al. Set for Tricycle Theatre’s Not Black and White Series

Full casting has been announced for the Tricycle Theatre‘s Not Black and White, a three-month repertory season of plays by Roy Williams, Kwame Kwei-Armah and Bola Agbaje, which will run from October 8-December 19. The series, which examines life and social issues in 21st-century London, will be directed Indhu Rubasingham.

Not Black and White will open with Williams’ Category B, directed by Paulette Randall, which focuses on a man who’s managed to rise to the top of the heap while in prison. Kwei-Armah’s Seize the Day explores a black man’s attempt to become mayor of London. Agbaje’s Detaining Justice focuses on a man, who after years of being a prosecutor, begins working as a defense attorney.

The plays will feature Jimmy Akingbola, Aml Ameen, Jaye Griffiths, John Boyega, Karl Collins, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Abhin Galeya, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Simone James, Amelia Lowdell, Cecilia Noble, Rebecca Scroggs, and Robert Whitelock. The creative team includes production designer Rosa Maggiora, lighting designer James Farncombe, and sound designer Tom Lishman.
