Benjamin Askew, Mathew Horne, Charles Kay Set for Menier Chocolate Factory’s Charley’s Aunt

Full casting has been announced for the Menier Chocolate Factory production of Brandon Thomas’ Charley’s Aunt, to run September 20-November 10, with an opening on October 1. Ian Talbot will direct.

The 1892 comedy centers on Lord Fancourt Babberley, who is blackmailed into playing the wealthy aunt of his best friend, Charley, so that they both can ask their true loves Amy and Kitty for their hands in marriage.

As previously reported, Mathew Horne will star as Babberley, with Jane Asher as Donna Lucia, and Norman Pace as Spettigue. Charles Kay replaces the previously announced Sam Kelly as Brassett.

The cast will also include Steven Pacey as Colonel Sir Francis Chesney, Benjamin Askew as Charley, Ellie Beaven as Amy, Charlie Clemmow as Ela, Dominic Tighe as Jack and Leah Whitaker as Kitty.

Set and costumes will be designed by Paul Farnsworth and lighting design is by Jason Taylor.
