Simon Callow will star in a new version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, to run December 8 – January 14 at the West End’s Arts Theatre, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. The piece will be performed alongside two other productions, Jo Noel Harley’s The Lazy Elf, and Tina C. and Christopher Green’s Tiny C.

Callow and Tom Cairns have co-created the new Carol, based on Dickens’ own performing version of the holiday story.

Callow has previously performed as Dickens in The Mystery of Charles Dickens. Among his other solo shows are Dr Marigold & Mr Chops, Tuesday at Tescos, and Being Shakespeare. In addition, he voices both the author Dickens and Ebenezer Scrooge in the 2001 animated film Christmas Carol The Movie.

In related news, the Arts Theatre has also announced its programming for the fall, which will include, as previously announced, A Dish of Tea with Dr. Johnson, starring Trude Styler, along with a revival of Frank Marcus’ The Killing of Sister George, tarring Meera Syal, and A British Subject, written and performed by Nichola McAuliffe.
