Neil Patrick Harris to Produce Accomplice at Menier Chocolate Factory; Season Announced

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced the three productions to be presented as part of its Autumn/Winter 2010 season.

Stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris will produce the European premiere of writer/director Tom Salamon’s Accomplice, beginning September 4. Part game, part theatre, part tour, Accomplice takes audiences on a walking discovery of theatre and mystery. Armed with basic information and aided by clues and cast members at various locations en route, each group of 10 participants will be sent on a mission on the streets of SE1 to piece together a meticulously crafted plot.

Real-life father and son Samuel and Timothy West will play a fictional father and his son(s) in Caryl Churchill’s A Number, September 29-November 5. Set in the near future, the story addresses the subjects of human cloning, identity, and nature versus nurture. Jonathan Munby will direct, with design by Paul Wills, lighting by Oliver Fenwick, and music by Olly Fox.

Ian Talbot will direct Ken Hill’s The Invisible Man, which will run November 12-February 13. This adaptation of H.G. Wells’s classic novel has been converted into a music hall romp for the entire family. The production will feature set designs by Paul Farnsworth, costume designs by Matthew Wright, lighting by Jason Taylor, sound by Gareth Owen, and illusions by Paul Kieve. Casting will be announced at a later date.

The Menier Chocolate Factory currently has five productions playing worldwide: Aspects of Love at the Menier, Sweet Charity and Educating Rita/Shirley Valentine in the West End, as well as Broadway productions of Trevor Nunn’s revival of A Little Night Music at the Walter Kerr Theatre and Terry Johnson’s revival of La Cage Aux Folles at the Longacre Theatre.
