Brian Cox, Michael Gambon, Fiona Shaw et al. to Play London’s National Theatre

The National Theatre has announced the casting for many of its fall productions, including Deborah Warner’s forthcoming production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, which stars Fiona Shaw in the title role, to run at the Olivier, September 9-December 8. The show is translated by Tony Kushner, and designed by Tom Pye, with costumes by Ruth Myers, and lighting by Jean Kalman.

Joining Shaw in the cast are Anthony Mark Barrow, William J Cassidy, Johannes Flaschberger, Peter Gowen, Jonathan Gunthorpe, Stephen Kennedy, Youssef Kerkour, Martin Marquez, Louis McKenzie, Kyle McPhail, Siobhán McSweeney, Harry Melling, Eleanor Montgomery, Stephen O’Toole, Charlotte Randle, Guy Rhys, Clifford Samuel, Gary Sefton, Roger Sloman, Colin Stinton, Sophie Stone, Morgan Watkins, and Sargon Yelda.

Also at the National this fall, Brian Cox will perform Richard Nelson’s monologue adaptation of Nabokov’s Lolita (September 7, 14, 21); John Lithgow presents Stories by Heart, a double bill of stories by PG Wodehouse and Ring Lardner (October 19 and 26); Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art, which examines the stormy relationship between Benjamin Britten and WH Auden, will star Michael Gambon, Alex Jennings, Frances de la Tour, Adrian Scarborough, John Heffernan, Elliot Levey and Stephen Wight; and David Hare’s The Power of Yes will feature Jasper Britton, Claire Price, Jemima Rooper, Jeff Rawle, Julien Ball, Malcolm Sinclair, Richard Cordery, Jonathan Coy, Paul Freeman, Ian Gelder, John Hollingworth, Bruce Myers, Christian Roe, Peter Sullivan, Nicolas Tennant, and Simon Williams.
