Mark Ravenhill, Emma Rice, Jonathan Slinger Set for Royal Shakespeare Company Season

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced the line-up for its 2013 season for its theaters in Stratford-upon-Avon, which will be the final season for current artistic director Michael Boyd.

At the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, productions will include The Winter’s Tale directed by Lucy Bailey, As You Like It directed by Maria Aberg, All’s Well That Ends Well directed by Nancy Meckler, and Hamlet directed by David Farr, with Jonathan Slinger in the title role.

In the Swan Theatre, Tanika Gupta’s new play The Empress will open the season, directed by Emma Rice, followed by Michael Fentiman’s production of Titus Andronicus and Sean Foley’s staging of Thomas Middleton’s A Mad World My Masters. Additionally, the season will feature a new play by Mark Ravenhill, written as a response to Voltaire’s Candide, to be directed by Lyndsey Turner.

As previously reported, the RSC’s production of Matilda the Musical, directed by Matthew Warchus, will open on Broadway in 2013.
