Thandie Newton to Star in Death and the Maiden in London

Thandie Newton will star in Ariel Dorfman’s Death and the Maiden, to run October 13 – January 21 at the West End’s Comedy Theatre, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. Jeremy Herrin will direct the production.


The play centers on Paulina Salas (to be played by Newton), a woman who attempts to exact revenge on the man she believes held her captive as a political prisoner. Additional casting will be announced shortly.


Newton will be making her stage debut in the production. Her many screen credits include her BAFTA Award-winning performance in Crash, along with Beloved, Mission Impossible II, The Pursuit of Happyness, Run Fat Boy Run, W, and For Colored Girls.
