Tony Award winner Jane Lapotaire has withdrawn from the world premiere production of Peter Gill’s new play Another Door Closed, to be presented as part of Peter Hall’s seventh annual summer repertory season at the Theatre Royal Bath, August 4-29. A press statement cites creative differences as the reason for Lapotaire’s departure. Marjorie Yates has been named as her replacement.

In the play, to be directed by Hall, two sisters’ memories of their childhood home are disrupted by a male visitor who reveals that their mother had been very kind to him. The cast also includes June Watson and Sean Chapman.

Lapotaire won the Tony for her work in the title role of Piaf and her many other stage credits include Master Class, A Month in the Country, A Room with a View, and Shadowlands.
