Tony Award Winner Margaret Tyzack Has Died

Tony and Olivier Award winner Margaret Tyzack has died, according to a report in The Guardian. She was 79.

Tyzack won the Tony Award for her performance in Lettice and Lovage and Oliviers for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Chalk Garden. Among her many other theater credits are All’s Well That Ends Well on Broadway and in the U.K., as well as The Importance of Being Earnest, Indian Ink, The Family Reunion, An Inspector Calls, and Soldiering On.

Her film credits include 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Match Point, Bright Young Things, and Prick Up Your Ears. In addition, she won an Emmy for her work on the miniseries Cousin Bette. Among her other honors are the OBE and the CBE.

She is survived by her husband and son.
