Marc Warren will play the title role in Emma Reeves’ stage version of the movie Cool Hand Luke, which will begin performances on September 23 at the West End’s Aldwych Theatre, in anticipation of an official opening on October 3. Andrew Loudon will direct the production, which will be designed by Edward Lipscomb and have lighting design by Matthew Eagland.

The story centers on Luke Jackson, an incarcerated World War II vet who refuses to conform to life in a rural prison. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

Warren’s stage credits include The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in the West End and The Pillowman at Leicester Curve. His television credits include Band of Brothers, Accused, Mad Dogs, and Hustle.

As previously reported, the dance-driven Midnight Tango will play the Aldwych beginning in January.
