James Garnon, Anthony Howell, Miranda Raison, et al. Set for Howard Brenton’s Anne Boleyn at Shakesepare’s Globe

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced complete casting for the world premiere of Howard Brenton’s historical drama Anne Boleyn, to run July 24 – August 21, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. As previously announced, John Dove will direct the production.

The company will feature Miranda Raison as Anne Boleyn, which she is also playing in the theater’s production of Shakespeare’s Henry VIII, along with Michael Bertenshaw (Robert Cecil), Sam Cox (Lancelot Andrews), John Cummins (Simpkin/Parrot), Naomi Cranston (Lady Jane), Ben Deery (George Villiers), Mary Doherty (Lady Celia), John Dougall (Thomas Cromwell), Will Featherstone (Sloop), James Garnon (James I), Peter Hamilton Dyer (William Tyndale), Anthony Howell (Henry VIII), Colin Hurley (Cardinal Wolsey/Henry Barrow), and Amanda Lawrence (Lady Rochford).

Raison may be best known for her portrayal of Jo Portman on the BBC drama Spooks. Among her other credits are ITV’s Married Single Other, Woody Allen’s Match Point, and Land of the Blind.

In related news, the theater has announced casting for the return engagement of Chirstopher Luscombe’s 2008 production of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor. The company will feature Nathan Amzi (Simple), Gareth Armstrong (Evans), William Belchambers (Slender), Christopher Benjamin (Falstaff), Philip Bird (Dr Caius), Serena Evans (Mistress Page), Peter (Gale Shallow), Michael Garner (Page), Gregory Gudgeon (Nym), Andrew Havill (Ford), Jonty Stephens (Host), Sue Wallace (Mistress Quickly), Paul Woodson (Pistol), and Sarah Woodward (Mistress Ford).
