Full Casting Set for National Theatre’s Phedre with Helen Mirren and Dominic Cooper

Full casting has been announced for the London’s National Theater production of Jean Racine’s Phedre, which stars Helen Mirren, Dominic Cooper, and Margaret Tyzack, which will play the Lyttleton Theater, starting on June 4.

The production, to be directed by Nicholas Hytner, will also star John Shrapnel (Théramène), Stanley Townsend (Theseus), Portia Booroff, Chipo Chung, Alexander D’Andrea, Wendy Morgan, Ruth Negga, Elizabeth Nestor, and Tristram Wymark. A live broadcast of the play will be shown in venues throughout the world on June 25.

Mirren last appeared on Broadway in Dance of Death, won the Oscar for The Queen and has earned Emmy Awards for her work in Elizabeth I and Prime Suspect. Cooper starred in The History Boys on Broadway, the West End, and the film version; he also played “Sky” in the film adaptation of Mamma Mia!. Tyzack won a Tony Award for Lettice and Lovage and received a Tony nomination for All’s Well That End’s Well.
