Serena Evans, Nigel Harman, Tim Pigott-Smith, Antony Sher Set for Theatre Royal Bath Summer Season

Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s The School for Scandal, Terry Johnson’s Hysteria, and Shakespeare’s The Tempest will make up the Theatre Royal Bath’s summer season.

Sheridan’s 1777 restoration comedy will run July 5-21, under the direction of Jamie Lloyd, with designs by Soutra Gilmour. The cast will include Serena Evans (Lady Sneerwell), Susannah Fielding (Lady Teazle), Nigel Harman (Charles Surface), James Laurenson (Sir Peter Teazle), Ian McNeice (Sir Oliver Survace), and Maggie Steed (Mrs. Candour).

Antony Sher will star as Sigmund Freud in Johnson’s Hysteria, which examines a meeting between the noted analyst and surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Johnson directs his work, which also features Will Keen, Indira Varma, and David Horovitch, with designs by Lez Brotherston. The production runs July 26-August 18.

Adrian Noble’s production of The Tempest, with designs by Ralph Funicello, will run August 23-September 8. The production stars Tim Pigott-Smith as Prospero, with Geoffrey Freshwater, Mark Hadfield, Mark Quartley, Iris Roberts, and Philip Voss.
