British pop star-turned-actor Will Young will make his West End debut in Rufus Norris’ revival of Cabaret at the Savoy Theatre, according to published reports. The production will open on October 3 following a four-week national tour.

The singer, who gained fame when he won the television singing competition Pop Idol in 2002, will play the role of the Emcee in the musical, which features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, a book by Joe Masteroff, and is based on the pre-war Berlin novels of Christopher Isherwood.

Norris’ new production, a version of which debuted at the West End’s Lyric Theatre in 2006, will feature choreography by Javier de Frutos. Additional casting will still be announced.
