Harrison Dowzell to Play Billy Elliot on the West End

Twelve-year-old Harrison Dowzell will join the West End company of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre beginning Monday, May 14.

Dowzell will alternate the title role with current cast members Harris Beattie, Kaine Ward, Ryan Collinson, and Adam Vesperman. Dowzell’s casting makes him the 30th boy to play Billy Elliot in the West End.

The other principals in the company are Gillian Bevan (Mrs. Wilkinson), Deka Walmsley (Dad), Michael Peavoy (Tony), Ann Emery (Grandma), Sean Kearns (George), Kay Milbourne (Dead Mum), Simon Ray Harvey (Mr. Braithwaite), and Barnaby Meredith (Older Billy). Additionally, Reece Barrett, Connor Kelly, and Joe Massey alternate the role of Michael, with Dayna Dixon, Francesca Mango, and Macy Stasiak alternating the role of Debbie.

The ensemble includes Craig Armstrong, David Bardsley, Paul Basleigh, Alan Bradshaw, Dawn Buckland, James Butcher, Spencer Cartwright, Lucinda Collins, Jaymz Denning, Gillian Elisa, Helen French, Sergio Giacomelli, Simon Ray Harvey, Kieran Jae, Ian Gareth Jones, Sean Kearns, Connor McAllister, Barnaby Meredith, Kay Milbourne, Steven Paget, Steph Parry, Ryan Pidgen, Dan Reilly and Mike Scott.

Based on the 2000 film of the same title, Billy Elliot the Musical tells the story of a young boy from a working-class family who dreams of being a dancer. The production features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling, and direction by Stephen Daldry.
