Michael Feast to Replace Simon Ward in West End Pygmalion

Michael Feast will replace Simon Ward as Alfred P. Doolittle in George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, scheduled to open at the West End’s Garrick Theatre on May 25, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com. Ward has had to withdraw from the production due to health reasons.

Feast’s other West End credits include Plague Over England and The Accused, as well as Macbeth, in which he also appeared on Broadway. His film and television credits include Silent Witness, Penelope, Long Time Dead, Young Vlades, Sleepy Hollow, and Velvet Goldmine.

Directed by Philip Prowse, Shaw’s comedy focuses on what happens when linguistics professor Henry Higgins works to transform Eliza Doolittle, a common flower girl, into a proper lady.

The production also features Rupert Everett as Professor Henry Higgins, Kara Tointon as Eliza Doolitle, Diana Rigg as Mrs Higgins, Peter Eyre as Colonel Pickering, Peter Sandys Clarke as Freddy Eynsford Hill, along with Marty Cruickshank and Roberta Taylor.
