Jeff Goldblum to Star in Neil Simon’s The Prisoner of Second Avenue in the West End

Jeff Goldblum will star as Mel in The Old Vic’s revival of Neil Simon’s The Prisoner of Second Avenue, to run June 30-September 11 at the Vaudeville Theatre. 2010 Tony Award nominee Terry Johnson will direct the production, which will feature designs by Rob Howell and lighting design by Neil Austin.

Set in the 1970’s, Simon’s play is a black comedy depicting a New York couple, Mel and Edna Edison, enduring the trials and tribulations of city life. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

Goldblum’s theater credits include Speed the Plow at The Old Vic, The Pillowman on Broadway and Twelfth Night in Central Park. His many films include California Split, Nashville, Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Prince of Egypt The Big Chill, Silverado, The Fly, The Tall Guy and The Right Stuff. In addition, he was nominated for an Academy Award for directing the live-action short film Little Surprises and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his appearance on Will and Grace.
