Stephen Fry, Alan Davies Set for Criterion Theatre’s Playing The Games

Criterion Theatre is set to present Playing the Games, a program of work which will celebrate both artistic and sporting talent and feature artists as well as Olympians, July 26-August 12.

Plans for the program include a series of lunchtime discussions with Olympians about their life and work, interviewed by television and stage personalities. On May 30, television presenter and columnist Rick Edwards will interview runner Kriss Akabusi, and on August 6, Stephen Fry will interview the 400 meter hurdle gold medalist Edwin Moses.

In addition, emerging British playwrights Serge Cartwright and Adam Brace have been commissioned to write new plays in response to the presence of the Olympic Games in London. Sam Hodges will direct the world premiere of Serge Cartwright’s After the Party, and later, Playing The Games will present Taking Part by Adam Brace.

There will also be late-night performances by comedians and musicians such as novelist Mark Watson and writer and actor Alan Davies.
